Therapy for the Highly Sensitive Person
Therapy for the Highly Sensitive Person (HSP)
You take in everything. The tone of a voice, the shift in someone’s mood, the flicker of light in a room. Your system notices more than most and while that sensitivity allows for depth, creativity, and empathy, it can also feel like too much.
You might feel easily overstimulated, drained by social situations, or hyper-aware of others’ needs. You may need time alone to recalibrate but feel guilty for taking it. The world can feel fast, loud, and demanding and sometimes you wonder if you’re simply not built for it.
You are. Your nervous system just speaks a more refined language.
Being a highly sensitive person (HSP) doesn’t mean you’re fragile it means you’re finely tuned. Therapy can help you learn to work with that sensitivity instead of against it.
You might notice:
Emotional overwhelm or frequent exhaustion
Taking on others’ emotions as your own
Difficulty setting boundaries or saying no
Heightened anxiety or reactivity in relationships
A strong inner critic or perfectionistic parts
Periods of shutdown or withdrawal after intense days
If you think you might be an HSP, here is a wonderful article detailing more information
In our work together, we focus on regulation, boundaries, and self-trust so you can honor your sensitivity while feeling grounded in it. Using Internal Family Systems (IFS), EMDR, and Brainspotting, we’ll explore the protective parts that learned to manage the world by over-attuning, and help your nervous system find steadier rhythms of rest and engagement.
As a therapist (who is an HSP herself) who works extensively with sensitive and empathic adults in Bozeman, Montana, and throughout Colorado, I offer therapy that is clear, compassionate, and deeply respectful of your inner world.

Your sensitivity isn’t something to fix, it’s something to understand and refine until it becomes your greatest strength.
