Trauma Therapy & Recovery
Healing doesn’t mean erasing what happened…
…it means your system no longer has to carry it alone. Trauma can live quietly in the body for years, shaping how we think, feel, and connect.
Here, therapy is deliberate and attuned. Using IFS, EMDR, Brainspotting and somatic work, we help your nervous system integrate what’s been overwhelming, transforming old patterns into clarity and calm.
This is work that honors your pace. There’s no rush, no fixing, just a guided return to safety, trust, and strength within yourself.
WHAT TRAUMA REALLY is?
Trauma isn’t just what happened to you, it’s how your system adapted to survive it. When experiences overwhelm our capacity to cope, the body and mind store that distress through activation, avoidance, or disconnection. Over time, these protective responses can make it hard to feel ease, trust, or connection.
Many people think of trauma as one big event, but it’s often quieter and longer-lasting, growing up with unpredictability, managing chronic stress, or feeling emotionally unseen. These experiences shape the nervous system, creating patterns of self-protection that once kept us safe, but now limit our ability to feel fully alive.
You don’t have to face that alone. With the right support, your system can learn safety again.
WHAT TRAUMA CAN FEEL LIKE
Trauma doesn’t always look like what we expect. Sometimes it’s the obvious pain of a frightening or violating experience; other times it’s the quiet exhaustion of constantly being on alert, feeling disconnected, or never quite able to relax.
You might notice yourself:
Feeling anxious, tense, or “on edge” even when things seem fine
Struggling to trust others or yourself
Shutting down or disconnecting when emotions feel too big
Overthinking, people-pleasing, or trying to stay in control
Avoiding reminders of painful memories or relationships
Feeling heavy, numb, or detached from your body
Replaying moments in your head that you wish you could forget
Feeling stuck in patterns, like you’re reacting instead of choosing
These are all signs of a nervous system that’s still working hard to protect you, even if those old defenses are no longer needed.
How Healing works
In trauma therapy, safety and pacing come first. Our work isn’t about re-living the past, it’s about helping your system understand that what once felt threatening is now over.
Together, we bring awareness to how trauma shows up in the body and mind in the present moment. Using somatic techniques, IFS, EMDR, and Brainspotting, we work with the nervous system in real time, helping it release what’s been held and return to a state of balance.
Over time, clients often notice:
A steadier relationship with their emotions and body
The ability to stay present during difficult moments
A sense of choice and confidence in relationships
Clearer boundaries and less guilt for having them
More calm, less urgency
Feeling connected to joy, creativity, and possibility again
